Been a longg time!

Well, the last time I wrote here was January. Whoops! Guess I'll make a short update now.

So let's see... there isn't much to say really ha. I went to NYC last month to meet up with Natalie and Chris... tons of fun! T.Jay came with me so Nat and Chris could meet him, so that was good times.

As for the latest news, I am moving to Philadelphia and living with Jessica at the end of May/beginning of June. Going to a 4-day Country Music Concert in Nashville, TN with Jessica. Flying home to LA for two weeks at the end of June.. from June 22-July 6. Nice chunk of time! hah.

Then hopefully starting a job sometime in July in Philadelphia. Woohoo.

T.Jay is moving to Indonesia to teach english. Wish I could go live in a foreign country... but I'm not ready for that step yet, so for now I'll wander across the US. =)

I was thinking about my job the other day... These past 5 months have been tough. Especially the past few days.. they have been the longest ones yet. There have been a lot of changes at camp recently, and I am still trying to figure out my place in all the chaos. I'm taking everything day by day. Camp can only be as stressful as you make it. Unfortunately, I do make some days more stressful than others... nobody's perfect, it gets to everyone at different times in different ways. Camp is not running as well as it used to, and everyone is scrambling to pick up the pieces and figure out a way to put it all back together.

The boys call me Squidword... or however you spell his name. The fool from SpongeBob SquarePants. They all think I have the same nose as him.. which makes me laugh. They're silly.

Anyway moving on. T.Jay and I are going to New York City in March to meet up with Natalie and Chris! I am looking forward to it.. I'm excited for some of the family to meet him.

I finally have a car out here... It's going to take its first drive in the snow later today because I need to get back to work. The roads are always nice and clean, I'm just worried about the road leading to camp, which is plowed but not clear of snow.. so we'll see!

What else what else? I don't know. I am traveling to Philadelphia next week to see Jessica. Yippeee! I'm super ecstatic. =D

Happy New Year. from Rhode Island!

What a crazy few months it as been here... I was going to recap my 2010, but that seems pointless. Everyone that reads this was involved in my 2010 adventures, so there really is no point. Started my 2010 in Thousand Oaks... Started my 2011 in Exeter, RI... in a insulated tent with the flying squirrel that lives in my tent with me. SO strange.. hah what have I turned in to?

A lot has changed in the past few months. Slowly getting a hang of things at work.. been here for just about 5 months now. I was talking to one of my coworkers last night at our little local bar.. about how the time has flown and how I'm finally handling the job. I've learned not to get worked up over small things... camp can be as stressful as you make it. It can only affect the boys, and I can't let it affect me. So I'm slowly learning that.. and doing my best to just stay positive and enthusiastic for them.

As for life outside of work.. it's good. Right now the heat in my house isn't working, so I need to go to my landlord about that, but I'm just feeling lazy right now. It's supposed to snow later on today, so that'll be fun to see. Hopefully going snowboarding in 2 weeks with some coworkers at a nearby mountain in Massachusetts. I took some days off at the end of the month to go visit Jessica in Philadelphia so I'm superrr exciited for that! Work is better when I have other things to look forward to when I'm off.

Let's seee.. what eelssee. Nothing really. I do a ton of baking here. Lately, baking for me helps take my mind off of other things.. such as work and other stressors. It's a mindless task for me. I haven't repeated any recipes yet, but I think today I'll make my Vegan Chocolate Chip Cookies. They're easy and they're yummy.. and don't go bad because there's nothing in them to make them go bad!

guess it's time for a real update

Hello blog world. Family... friends... random people... I guess since it's been almost 2 months since a real update... it's about that time.

Rhode Island is amazing. The people I work with have been amazing. The kids are a bunch of doodoo heads, but that is expected I guess, considering the fact that they are troubled teenage boys. I have been called every combination of swear words imaginable, as well as various cartoon/movie/tv characters, random nationalities, a grandma, a white mountain climber... oh the list goes on forever. It has been a hard few months, to be completely honest. There have been a few times where I ask myself what the hell I am doing here... wondering if I'm really made for this job. But I always wake up the next morning and try again.

Fortunately, I have people amongst my coworkers that I can go to if I need to vent/relax. Let's recap a bit... I went to Orlando with a coworker of mine, T.Jay. We started out as mere coworkers.. and when I found out he was going to Harry Potter World, I immediately squealed in excitement for him and declared how jealous I was that he was going. He then proceeded to ask if I wanted to come with him. I figured... why not? This guy seems nice and friendly. So from that point, we became friends... which slowly evolved into a relationship.. and we've been dating for over a month now. The end. So that is T.Jay in the pictures... he's very nice to me. Oh, and as for the picture of the penguins... T.Jay and I went to Boston a few weeks ago and we went to the Aquarium there.. where they had a giant penguin exhibit. Penguins are fun, so that was exciting.

I will be flying home for Christmas... I'll be home from Dec 24-28. I hope I get to see as many people as I can in those 4 days!

So this update was short and sweet... today is November 19.. and we all know what that means... HARRY POTTER 7!!! Off to the movies I go =)

So it's fall! The leaves are beginning to change here and some of the colors are so beautiful! I have the next few days off, so I will definitely be walking around tomorrow and snapping some pictures of my town. I will also most definitely be running tomorrow morning, as I just downed a whole pint of Ben and Jerry's FroYo Half Baked. It was delicious and soo worth the 6 miles I will be completing tomorrow hah.

Gosh I haven't written in here for two weeks. Whoops! It has been a busy few weeks, as I am finally getting into the groove of working and feeling more confident in my abilities to work with these crazy groups of children. My days at work consist of waking the kids up, enduring some cursing, walking up trails, eating, walking some more, hearing some more cursing and disrespect, eating, inappropriate conversations about drugs, some sports, being serenaded "California Girls are unforgettable daisy dukes bikini's on top" [if i had a penny for everyone time I heard that song... I'd have 2 dollars], showering and having about 30 minutes of peace to myself, eating, then probably some game, some more inappropriate conversations, then bedtime.

My time off away from camp consists of lots of cups of tea, sleeping, napping, some running time, walking/wandering around town, eating, shopping, errands. I eat a lot here. I need to stop eating so much! Ha but the food at camp is so damn good and I forget that I'm not a teenage boy like everyone else around me. I'm finding that since I spend so much time with these kiddos, I'm starting to talk like them! Not out loud anyway, but I definitely hear my thoughts and laugh, because I'm definitely using there lingo. I'm starting to eat like them too! Bad Meli. I bought a big yoga ball today that I need to pump up and start using.

Let us see what else is there to report. I'm going to Orlando, FL in T minus 10 days. Craziness that's so sooon! I have today, Tuesday, and Wednesday off, then 5 days of work, then another day off, then I fly out on the 6th. We'll be doing Disneyworld, Harry Potter World, Universal Studios, and whatever else is thrown our way. Ahhh! Such a geek but I'm super stoked.

I'm flying home around Christmas time for about 5-6 days. It's going to be a quick visit, but I am excited to be home for a bit and see all my family and friends. I miss you guys! I just checked airfares the roundtrip flights around the dates I think I'm free.. and damn they're pretty expensive! Since I won't be booking any flights just yet... I expect to be paying about $600. That's riidiiculous. Ah. But it must be done. The main reason they're so pricey is because the dates I'm free are just before Christmas to the 28/29.

Well that's about it for now. I will definitely be updating this after my trip to Orlando and talking about everythiiinggg about the trip.
